Most stay resellers. Not brand builders.
You sell products. But do you really control them? Anyone who buys, brands and scales through advertising stays interchangeable – regardless of revenue. Real product brands are created by controlling design, specification and manufacturing. This is the way there, in six phases, as I went through it in my own companies.
- 01
Recognise the reseller reality – and put the idea to the test
Reselling is not a business model with a moat, it is a sales model. The first question is not “How do I sell this?” but “Why does a better solution not exist yet?” Problem or preference? Variant or real improvement?

Understand the product DNA
A product is not a single unit but the sum of components, functions and material decisions. Those who understand where costs arise and where differentiation is technically possible stop accepting prices – and start shaping them.

Develop strategic product innovation
From feature thinking to solution architecture: what would the ideal solution look like if you thought it through from scratch? Target retail price and cost logic from the start. Innovation without cost logic is a hobby – with cost logic it is a business.

MVP, test and validation in the market
Deliberately reduce complexity, isolate the core function, small series instead of mass production. Likes are not validation, and neither is reach. Validation begins where customers pay – despite alternatives.

Production and quality control
Many entrepreneurs “have” a manufacturer, few actually steer one. Specifications, materials, tolerances, test mechanisms: do not just buy, define. Margin is created in engineering, not only in sales.

Manufacturer DNA as a company structure
Product development as a repeatable process instead of founder intuition. An innovation pipeline instead of single launches. Know-how in house instead of at the supplier. This is where company value is created – and the ability to exit.

Six honest questions.
- Do you control the design – or only purchasing?
- Do you know your cost structure – or only your unit price?
- Do you differentiate through function – or through marketing?
- Do you validate systematically – or hope for a successful launch?
- Do you steer production – or react to problems?
- Do you develop products as a system – or opportunistically?
The more of these you can answer clearly, the closer you are to real manufacturer DNA. If not, you are in the sales model – no matter what the revenue says.
Manufacturer DNA in 6 phases

One day in your business – by the evening you know how much the solution saves or adds in revenue.
Two days of work, zero risk: you only pay once you know the number – and only if it adds up for you.
First, a 20-minute call: Do you make or sell products? How many people? Which process hurts the most?

The Test Bench
Analysis on site
I come to your business and walk through the one process with the people who do it every day. Numbers, routes, exceptions – everything that isn’t in a spreadsheet.

The Solution
Solution and estimate
I build the solution and do the maths. By the evening you have two pages: what it saves or adds in revenue, in euros – and a clear no if it isn’t worth it.
- fixed priceDay 3
The Installation
Installation and handover
The solution goes into your business: integration, data, training your people, documentation. At the fixed price agreed on day 2.
The one-third guarantee
You pay at most one third of what the solution saves or earns you. If that doesn’t add up, you get no offer – just an honest no. The fixed price is set at the end of day 2, before you buy anything.
On day 1 you see my own ERP, my bookkeeping and my shop live – that’s how my business has been running for years.
